Nandrolone Decanoate Injection Prescribed Online

Alternatively, another option like transdermal estradiol gel (e.g., 0.75–1 mg/day) or low-dose oral estradiol (e.g., 0.5–1 mg/day) may be used instead. Examples include normethandrone (17α-methyl-19-nortestosterone), norethandrolone (17α-ethyl-19-nortestosterone), trestolone (7α-methyl-19-nortestosterone; MENT), dimethandrolone (DMA; 7α,11β-dimethyl-19-nortestosterone), and 11β-methyl-19-nortestosterone (11β-MNT). The first male oral contraceptive pills to be marketed may end up containing dimethandrolone and/or 11β-MNT. When it comes to all of the compounds you can find in the marketplace, Nandrolone is going to be one of those few compounds that is just amazing as far as not having really terrible side effects. Women can really get a lot out of it, too, but they typically can only handle very low therapeutic doses before things get out of hand. There are a few side effects that could affect people with certain genetic traits that aren’t too common, but for most healthy males over the age of 18, you’re going to be perfectly fine as long as you use the compound in a responsible manner.

  • Make sure you get those good fatty acids and keep saturated fats and sugars to a minimum if you can help it.
  • This reaction, now known as the Birch reduction,51 is typified by the treatment of the monomethyl ether of estradiol (1) with a solution of lithium metal in liquid ammonia in the presence of alcohol as a proton source.
  • Liver cell tumors have been reported in patients receiving androgenic anabolic steroid therapy (see WARNINGS section).
  • Commonly, DHT based anabolics cause the most severe problems in steroid users.
  • Nandrolone has also been shown to decrease LH, FSH, and endogenous testosterone levels in animal models, indicating a negative feedback loop to inhibit the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis (44).

That may not seem all that important but retention creates anabolism and a lack of retention enters us into a catabolic state. Then we’re left with the collagen and bone mineral traits and it is these two traits that truly separate Nandrolone from the rest of the pack. It is these two traits that allow Nandrolone to promote joint relief and even pain relief in achy tendons and ligaments to a degree. The recovery factor this promotes is truly tremendous and is one of the reasons and often the only reason some athletes use the steroid. Limitations to the use of nandrolone include the potential for ED via suppression of the HPG axis.

And if you’re only using a versatile compound for the mass-building alone, it’s like driving a Ferrari just because you like the way the steering wheel feels. Nandrolone is carries an anabolic rating that is slightly greater than testosterone, but possess a much lower androgenic rating. The decreased androgenic rating is due to Nandrolone’s ability to reduce to dihydronandrolone (DHN) rather than dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This makes Nandrolone one of the most well tolerated anabolic steroids for adult men. Nandrolone possess very little estrogenic activity with an aromatase rate of only 20% that of Testosterone. It is classified as an active progestin and this will play into potential side effects, but they are controllable in most cases.

Nandrolone Decanoate: Use, Abuse and Side Effects

This reaction, now known as the Birch reduction,51 is typified by the treatment of the monomethyl ether of estradiol (1) with a solution of lithium metal in liquid ammonia in the presence of alcohol as a proton source. Initial reaction constituents of 1,4-dimetalation of the most electron deficient positions of the aromatic ring–in the case of an estrogen, the 1 and 4-positions. Rxn of the intermediate with the proton source leads to a dihydrobenzene; a special virtue of this sequence in steroids is the fact that the double bind at 2 is in effect becomes an enol ether moiety. Treatment of this product (2) with weak acid, oxalic acid for e.g., leads to the hydrolysis of the enol ether, producing β,γ-unconjugated ketone 3. Hydrolysis under more strenuous conditions (mineral acids) results in migration/conjugation of the olefin to yield nandrolone (4). The side effects of nandrolone in women are quite different and often more noticeable.

Androgenic and Masculinizing Effects Besides Skin and Hair

Testosterone and nandrolone may also be non-identical in their androgenic actions and effects for reasons other than metabolism. However, nandrolone was more similar in its profile to testosterone than the synthetic AAS. In any case, the clinical implications of these differences in relation to therapeutic use of testosterone versus nandrolone, if any, are unknown. A single 100mg can result in full cessation of natural anabolic hormone (shutdown), so make sure you use testosterone when using Nandrolone.

Due, in part, to these adverse effects, and the development of newer and more effective therapies to treat osteoperosis (i.e., bisphosphonates), nandrolone never gained traction as an effective clinical adjunct for this indication. Despite this, nandrolone’s stimulatory effects on bone and soft tissues became the basis upon which some researchers suggested its use in anemia and muscle wasting secondary to hemodialysis and/or HIV (8,9). Furthermore, recent studies have investigated the effects of nandrolone in the treatment of chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (10,11). In the context of the current review that examines the potential uses for anabolic steroids in male health, nandrolone was chosen as a case study.

Apple Watch Series 10 Review: Classic Reimagined

[ad_1]

10th-anniversary product! Yes, the Apple Watch series has existed for a decade, and the Apple Watch Series 10 smartwatch is a special product. At least, this is what the rumour mills claimed before the company’s September launch event. Well, it’s finally here, and I have been living with the Apple Watch Series 10 for almost two weeks now, and no, it’s not entirely different from what we expect from Apple.

To put some context, the iPhone X, launched in 2017, was a 10th-anniversary product that refreshed the design language of iPhones. It was one of the stepping stones of the iPhone design we see today from Apple. On the other hand, the Apple Watch Series 10 isn’t minutely close to that, but it is still the best daily smartwatch wearable money can buy. How? I will discuss that in depth in the review, so let’s dive in.

Apple Watch Series 10 Price in India and Specifications

Apple Watch Series 10 price in India starts at Rs. 46,900 for the Aluminium (GPS) model. As always, there are plenty of combinations to pick from. This year, Apple has introduced 42mm and 46mm strap sizes, which are new. There are also GPS + cellular options that can go up to Rs. 59,900, depending on the size you choose. The company also introduced all-new Titanium (GPS + Cellular) models starting at Rs. 79,900. The Series 10 can go up to Rs. 89,900 for the Titanium model with Milanese Loop.

The Apple Watch Series 10 is thinner and lighter than the Series 9

Apple Watch Series 10 Specifications

  • Sizes – 42mm and 46mm
  • Panel – LTPO3 OLED Always-on Retina display
  • Colours – Jet Black, Rose Gold, and Silver (Aluminium case)
  • Natural, Gold, and Slate (Titanium case)
  • Battery – Up to 18 hours of battery life (claimed)
  • Processor – S10 SiP with 64-bit dual-core processor
  • OS – watchOS 11

Apple Watch Series 10 Design and Display: Familiar comfort with a fresh twist

  • 42mm and 46mm cases
  • Available in Aluminium or Titanium case
  • Up to 40% brighter screen

Apple’s anniversary product, the Watch Series 10, focuses on the most important aspect of a smartwatch. The display! It is central to everything we do on a smartwatch, from checking notifications to quickly glancing time. Apple has fit in the largest and most advanced display ever on an Apple Watch. However, coming from Apple Watch Series 9, it took me some time to notice the differences.

apple watch series 10 review1 display apple-watch-series-10

The Apple Watch Series 10 packs the biggest display yet

A bigger display that slightly wraps around corners looks better and chunkier than Series 9, for sure. The Series 10 also packs the brightest display we have seen on any Apple Watch Series model yet. Apple claims that the Series 10 is up to 40 percent brighter when viewed at an angle and offers up to 2,000nits brightness. It comes in all-new 42mm and 46mm sizes – slightly larger than what we saw on the Series 9 (41mm and 45mm). The fun fact is that Series 10, despite the bump in case size, is marginally lighter than Series 9. The Aluminium (GPS + Cellular) model we are reviewing weighed 35.3 grams compared to 39 grams on Series 9 (same finish). This is the case across the range.

apple watch series 10 review4 band apple-watch-series-10

The Watch is available in Aluminium case in Jet Black, Rose Gold and Silver colours

Apple has gone a notch above this time to ensure the Series 10 looks like a major upgrade and ships the biggest display – even slightly bigger than the Apple Watch Ultra. Compared to older models, the Series 10 offers up to 30 percent more screen area (compared to the Series 6). What does the additional screen real estate offer is an additional line of text on apps like Mail, news, or messages. Compared to the Series 9, it was easier to type on the Series 10.

Apple ditched the stainless steel case this year for a lighter titanium case. But that also means boring colour choices. If there’s one department where Series 10 slightly disappoints, then it has to be the colour options. The Series 10 comes in Jet Black, Rose Gold and Silver in Aluminium case while Slate, Gold and Natural in Titanium. All of them are slightly boring choices, in my opinion, except for the Jet Black, which we got for this review. It is a stunning colour and adds to the overall premium look of the Series 10. On the other hand, the Series 9 offered Midnight, Starlight, Silver, Pink and (PRODUCT)RED in Aluminium case while Graphite, Silver and Gold in Stainless Steel case.

It also comes in a Titanium case in Slate, Gold and Natural colours

I got the carbon-neutral Sport Loop band with the Series 10, and it has been comfortable during the review period. I have been using the Apple Watch since the Series 6 days, and the Sport Loop band is one of the best band options the company offers, with a velcro adjustment strap, which makes it for daily wear. The Milanese loop is also fantastic for daily wear, but that’s only available with a titanium case.

The Series 10 comes with an upgraded LTPO3 OLED Always-on Retina display. The company claims the new Wide-angle OLED is power-efficient, allowing the display to update once a second and always be on mode instead of just once a minute, compared to the Series 9. A larger display gives an edge over its predecessors in a lot of ways, including a better screen resolution, which now offers 416×496 pixels for the 46mm case.

apple watch series 10 review9 hands apple-watch-series-10

Thanks to a bigger display, you can comfortably type on the display of the Series 10 smartwatch

Imagine, I could notice ticking seconds hand in the Activity watch face. However, quality-wise, the Series 10 is an extension of the Series 9 as it also sports a fantastic display.

Thanks to a bigger display than the Ultra, the Series 10 is actually a better, more practical, and cheaper option than the Ultra in its current avatar.

Apple Watch Series 10 Performance: Subtle progress

  • S10 SiP chip
  • Features water temperature sensor
  • Runs watchOS 11 out of the box

The Series 10 ships with S10 SiP with a 64-bit dual-core processor, and that’s about it. I noticed no difference between Series 10 and Series 9 performance credentials. As with Series 9, the new Series 10 is snappy and quick with closing and opening apps. Features like automatic workout detection and dictation work smoothly. Apple claims that the new Series 10 uses machine learning to identify the motion signatures and impact forces during falls, enabling features like crash detection and fall detection.

The Series 10 offers an AOD feature

With Series 10, Apple says that Smart Stack automatically adds new widgets when users need them. This is something I could test while testing the smartwatch. The Translate app also works smoothly on the Series 10 and gets added to Smart Stack if you travel to a different country. However, you will need to download the languages before using them.

The Series 10 packs a S10 SiP chip

Apple has re-engineered the speaker setup to be 30 percent smaller but is actually louder than the Series 9. The best part if even in loud environments, the Series 10 speakers are loud enough for emergency calls or hearing podcasts or music – in case your iPhone isn’t reachable. The biggest advantage of Series 10 is voice isolation.

The Series 10 display can hit up to 2,000nits peak brightness and drop to 1 nit minimum brightness. Besides packing a bigger display, the Series 10 offers punchier colours and amazing new watch faces.

apple watch series 10 review7 siri apple-watch-series-10

The Apple Watch Series 10 uses 100% recycled aluminium in the case (aluminium model)

This time, Apple has introduced an all-new water temperature sensor on the Apple Watch Series 10, a welcome addition. Other sensors are the same as the Series 9. There’s also support for the Oceanic+ app for snorkelling activity on the Series 10. I couldn’t test it, but it’s a good addition for people who love to do water sports. Now, they can be accompanied by their Apple Watch. The Series 10 comes with 64GB storage, the same as the Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2.

The Series 10 sports a metal and sapphire crystal back compared to Series 9’s Ceramic and sapphire crystal back. Apple claims that the metal back of the Series 10 integrates the antenna into the housing, contributing to the thinner design. The company also claims that the metal back design houses the necessary elements to cater to improved cellular performance.

The Series 10 comes with a refreshed Vitals app

Now comes the most important health feature, the marquee feature of the Series 10 – sleep apnea. Apple Watch models have been supporting sleep tracking for some years, but the addition of sleep apnea makes it more capable. How does it function? Apple says that the watch uses its accelerometer to monitor small movements at the wrist during sleep that are associated with interruptions in normal respiratory patterns, tracked by a new Apple Watch metric called Breathing Disturbances. For tracking these patterns, you will have to wear the watch regularly at night for at least 7 days.

Apple Watch Series 10’s biggest strength is accurately tracking fitness-related activities. It is definitely a benchmark for other smartwatches in the segment. It is SpO2 tracking, which returns almost the same results as a pulse oximeter or counting steps.

It features an all-new Water temperature sensor

The Series 10 ships with watchOS 11, bringing tons of personalisation and fitness-related features. The Vitals app has received a refresh and offers a quick check-in on key health metrics at a glance. The Activity rings have new customisation options that let you add a different activity for a day in the week to match your gym routine. The good thing about some of these new features of watchOS 11 is that they will also make it to the Series 9 model.

The new watch faces include Flux Face and Reflections, which Apple says have been designed to take advantage of larger display. The Photos face has also received a refresher, and photos can be better recommended based on aesthetics and composition.

Apple Watch Series 10 Battery: Fast charging support, finally

  • 0-80% charging in about 30 minutes (claimed)
  • Up to 18 hours of battery life
  • Up to 36 hours with Low Power Mode

Apple Watch Series 10 is the company’s fastest-charging Apple Watch model ever. And that’s something I want to write in my iPhone review, too, but maybe next year. One of the biggest highlights of the Apple Watch Series 10 is that it charges up to 80 percent in 30 minutes. The Series 9 can charge up to 80 percent in 45 minutes, while the Ultra 2 charges up to 80 percent in about an hour.

apple watch series 10 review10 sides apple-watch-series-10

It supports faster charging compared to Series 9

Interestingly, fast charging is enabled thanks to the use of the new metal back of the Series 10, which now accommodates a larger and more efficient charging coil. All of this does help enhance user experience on the Watch Series 10. Purely in terms of battery performance, the Series 10 offered me roughly 20 hours of battery life on a single charge. After this, it automatically turned on Low Power Mode at 15 percent. Extended workout sessions, including outdoor walks and running sessions, reduced battery life to 18 hours. The smartwatch reached 0 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes, while a full charge takes about 60 minutes.

In my tests, Series 10 offers an incremental battery life boost compared to its predecessor.

apple watch series 10 review14 display apple-watch-series-10

It comes in 46mm and 42mm strap sizes

The Apple Watch Series 10 is a better, more practical, and cheaper smartwatch for everyday use than the Ultra 2.

Apple Watch Series 10 Review: Verdict

Apple Watch Series 10 may not have introduced groundbreaking features compared to the Series 9. But it doesn’t need to. The Series 9 is already a solid smartwatch, and its successor builds on its strengths. Faster charging makes Series 10 a stronger smartwatch option for consumers. Moreover, the largest display, even a bit bigger than the Watch Ultra 2, makes it capable of packing more tricks. The company has also raised the refresh rate on the Series 10 to once in a second from once in a minute, and I could show off this with new watch faces that show seconds hand.

It also has a water temperature sensor and features that make it ideal for your next snorkelling session – features you may not need daily but are always good to have on board. One thing that surprised me is that Apple forgot to put a decent Apple Intelligence feature for the Apple Watch Series 10.

apple watch series 10 review16 screen apple-watch-series-10

The Jet Black aluminium model looks stunning and is excellent for everyday wear

Who should buy the new Series 10 smartwatch? By now, Apple devices have reached a point that users are not required to update every year and comfortably, they can jump a series or two depending on their use case. This applies to Series 10 as well. If you’re someone using the Apple Watch Series 8 or 9, you don’t gain a lot. However, if you want fast charging and a slightly bigger display, then Series 10 is the smartwatch for you. However, for Series 7 or 6 users, the Series 10 is an excellent upgrade. Similarly, for people who want to take a leap of faith and start using an Apple Watch, the Series 10 is the company’s best Apple Watch model yet.

For alternatives, the Series 9 (Review) is a good option alongside the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra (Review), which also offers some additional features.

Oppo Official Reveals Reason Behind New Capture Button on the Find X8 Series

Oppo Official Reveals Reason Behind New Capture Button on the Find X8 Series

[ad_1]

Oppo Find X8 series is scheduled to make its debut in China on October 24. The purported smartphone lineup is expected to feature a dedicated capture button for the camera, enabling quick access. Ahead of its anticipated launch, a company official has highlighted the reasons behind the inclusion of this new button on the Find X8 series and why it is different from the Camera Control button found on Apple’s latest iPhone 16 series.

Capture Button on Oppo Find X8 Series

In a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Oppo Find series Product Manager Zhou Yibao detailed the addition of a dedicated capture button for the camera on the purported Find X8 series. One of the reasons behind its inclusion is due to “pain points” discovered in personal experiences. It is meant to serve as a new, snappy way to capture photos without using the handset’s touchscreen.

The executive also highlighted how they faced trouble when operating the camera in freezing temperatures while wearing gloves. Another instance included a rafting adventure in Guangzhou, where the constantly moving raft, coupled with water splashes, made it difficult to access the controls on the screen. Other examples include wanting to take photos of moments with children and pets or while horseriding, all of which were missed due to the inability to quickly take out the smartphone and capture photos.

However, the Oppo official noted that the Find X8’s capture button is different from the new Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 series. Whereas Apple’s latest smartphones sport a new capacitive button that can be used to accomplish multiple tasks, including tweaking camera settings, the button on the Find X8 series is meant for only one thing — taking pictures.

It was designed with keeping three principles in mind: ease of use, simplicity and appearance. The official highlighted their discussions with Oppo’s research and development team and came to a conclusion that it should be easy to use regardless of the orientation, should be as “simple as a volume button”, and should be in line with the overall appearance of the smartphone.

Oppo Find X8 Specifications (Expected)

Oppo Find X8 may be equipped with a 6.5-inch BOE display with a 1.5K resolution and thin bezels, as per previous leaks. For optics, it is speculated to feature a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor. The purported handset is already confirmed to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, which may be paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Oppo Find X8 is expected to be backed by a 5,700mAh battery with support for 80W SuperVOOC charging via USB Type-C.

Google Is Rolling Out Custom AI Art Screensavers on Google TV Devices: How to Add

Google Is Rolling Out Custom AI Art Screensavers on Google TV Devices: How to Add

[ad_1]

Google is rolling out the new features announced for Google TV devices last week. Among them, the standout feature is the addition of custom artificial intelligence (AI) art screensavers. This feature allows users to turn their idle screen into a unique piece of art. Additionally, users can also use their images on Google Photos to make it a screensaver. Separately, the Mountain View-based tech giant is also adding a new home panel that will act as the centralised smart home hub.

Google TV Gets AI Screensavers

A new support page for Google TV has gone up, which details the new feature. Screensavers appear when a smart TV has been left idle for quite a while, and it begins showing wallpapers instead of the home screen. These are usually stock images and generic in nature. However, the new AI feature offers a way for users to flaunt unique art in this space.

There are three ways a user can add a custom AI art screensaver. The first is to type a prompt describing the art users want to see. Another way is to use the set templates provided and select them to generate AI art. The third method involves using the “Inspire Me” option. This option will let the AI generate a random art for users to save as a screensaver.

If AI images are not something the user prefers, they can also add their favourite pictures from Google Photos. However, to use this feature, the user must be logged into their Google account. Notably, users cannot pick individual images and will have to pick one or more albums to showcase as their screensaver.

To set up an AI art screensaver on your Google TV device, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Google TV home screen and select Settings.
  2. Go to System and select Ambient mode.
  3. From the list of screensavers, select Custom AI Art. Go to Create New…
  4. Choose between Describe your idea, Inspire me, and Suggested templates.
  5. After creating a piece of custom AI art, you can use the up and down button to scroll through its variations.
  6. Save the preferred images to the image library.
  7. You can add more prompts to generate more images. Once done, select Set all as screensaver.

Amazon Fire TVs to Carry Freely Streaming Platform in Boost for BBC, ITV

[ad_1]

Freely, a new streaming service backed by the BBC, ITV and other British public broadcasters, will be available on Amazon Fire televisions following a “landmark deal” with the US technology giant, the companies said on Monday.

The deal is a win for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, whose joint venture, called Everyone TV, launched Freely earlier this year, allowing viewers to stream both live TV and on-demand content for free when they purchase smart TVs carrying the service.

The tie-up will help take content from the four public broadcasters – which are required by UK law to offer programming beneficial to the public interest – to more British households, through smart TVs using Amazon’s popular Fire operating system.

“A deal of this kind, between a technology giant and those working in the public interest, is remarkable,” Everyone TV Chief Executive Jonathan Thompson said.

“It represents a significant development in widening the availability of Freely and therefore ensuring UK audiences can access free TV well into the future.”

Freely’s launch in April marked the first time all four of Britain’s public service broadcasters joined hands to set up a streaming service, as they look to future-proof live TV in the age of streaming.

Freely offers 70,000 hours of on-demand content, more than any other major streaming platform in Britain including Netflix, Disney, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV, according to data from London-based Ampere Analysis.

Everyone TV has also signed a deal with TV manufacturer TCL, which will include Freely in their new 2024 smart TVs, it said.

Star Wars Outlaws Review: Ubisoft’s Galactic Adventure Comes With Rough Edges

Star Wars Outlaws Review: Ubisoft’s Galactic Adventure Comes With Rough Edges

[ad_1]

Before I dived into Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft’s trademark open world take on perhaps the most enduring and beloved media franchise to ever exist, I was playing a different game set in galaxies far, far away. Fairly deep into my first playthrough of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, I couldn’t help but be charmed by its rustic delights. That’s not to say that Respawn’s action-adventure Jedi simulator is unsophisticated. On the contrary, it’s packed with sophistications and systems — some of which add necessary depth to the game, while others underscore its flaws. But for me, the joys of the game came from simpler origins.

Jedi Survivor endeared me with its faithful and adoring commitment to the essence of Star Wars. I kept going back for its specific reimagination of those worlds and for its moving retelling of Star Wars mythos. Through its forlorn landscapes, incredible music, and a protagonist who balanced the tragedy and hope of Star Wars, Jedi Survivor captured intangible pleasures. After all, more than its worlds and its people and their conflicts, Star Wars is an evocation. It is John Williams’ incredible score. It is Yoda’s warm and infinite wisdom. It is Luke looking at two crimson suns setting on a desolate horizon.

And that was what I was looking for in Star Wars Outlaws: an evocation. I didn’t need it to have fleshed out gameplay systems, or bring mechanical depth to its action. I simply wanted it to feel like Star Wars. But Ubisoft’s newest game often struggles to do that. On its surface, it’s an incredibly faithful and visually beautiful recreation of familiar and beloved worlds. Walking around in bustling cantinas full of scoundrels and fixers, ripping through the deserts of Tatooine on your Speeder, and getting into dogfights in the Outer Rim — these moments are as Star Wars as it can get. When it is showing off, Outlaws can leave you wide-eyed and smiling, enthralled by its tangible delights. But when it comes to things that you can’t quite put your finger on, the game leaves you wanting for more.

Concord Review: Firewalk’s Hero-Shooter Didn’t Deserve to Die, but Sony Dug Its Grave

Star Wars Outlaws follows the story of Kay Vess, a scrappy scoundrel desperate to leave behind her small-time existence in Canto Bight in search of something more. Her outsized ambitions go beyond the bit-part jobs she takes on, and she can’t wait to live a different life in the Core Worlds. Kay doesn’t have much, not even a ship. Her only friend is Nix, a small creature — a merqaal to be exact — who accompanies her everywhere and helps her out on jobs. Separated from her mother at a young age, Kay shares a familial bond with Nix. In a desperate bid to escape Cantonica, Kay signs up for a high-risk heist that puts her in the crosshair of Sliro, the dangerous leader of up-and-coming criminal syndicate Zerek Besh.

Kay learns that the crew behind the heist on Sliro’s heavily guarded vault was part of the Rebel Alliance, who had their own ulterior motives behind the break-in. Caught between a rock and a hard place, she slips past Sliro’s guards in the ensuing chaos, steals one of his ships — the Trailblazer, jets off the planet with Nix, and crash lands on Toshara. With the ship damaged and a death mark on head, Kay then must navigate the underworld as she works for local syndicates, forges allies and finds new enemies. The four criminal syndicates of the galaxy — the Pikes, the Crimson Dawn, the Hutt Cartel and the Ashiga Clan — are locked in a complex dance of power and opportunity and Kay finds herself stuck in the middle of it all.

She must now walk the perilous tightrope between loyalty and betrayal, juggling the interests of each syndicate as her decisions and actions swing the favour of one and attract the wrath of another. All the while, she also must look out for herself and Nix, fix the ship, lose the death mark, and find her calling. It is an intriguing setup and Star Wars Outlaws wastes no time getting you neck deep into smugglers and scoundrels. It can be a little overwhelming at first, juggling the syndicate opportunities and side jobs as you figure out the best way forward. And as you explore Toshara, the first major open-world planet in the game, you run into brokers and bartenders, delinquents and double agents — each of them looking for their own slice of the pie. As Kay wanders around in shady cantinas, rusty hangars and crowded cities, she picks up intel on jobs to do and treasures to find. Sometimes, it’s the bartender who hands out the information to Kay, and other she picks up clues by casually eavesdropping into sensitive NPC conversations.

This is where Outlaws excels — at being a game about petty criminals doing petty criminal things. It asks you to think on your feet, take sides as you please, and double cross your contact for a better payoff. In essence, there is no right or wrong choice — this is not Baldur’s Gate III. Here, your decisions and their consequences aren’t as flexible as your morality. You’re encouraged to become an agent of chaos, the freest of freelancers playing with your reputation within the criminal network. Star Wars Outlaws encouraged me to essentially become a sort of space Joker, without the penchant for evil — I had no plan, and I just did things.

As you switch loyalties, take on and complete syndicate requests, your reputation rises in the faction that handed you the job and takes a hit in another. Missions could pan out in unpredictable and fluid ways, too. For instance, the Pikes send you to infiltrate a Crimson Dawn base and steal sensitive information, but while sneaking through the compound you find out that Pikes have a Crimson Dawn spy amongst their ranks. Now you could choose to reveal this to the Pike boss and gain favour with the syndicate, or you could keep your mouth shut and find yourself in the good books of Crimson Dawn. These choices regularly present themselves over the course of the game, and while they do not deeply change the fabric of the Outlaws or its ending, they do help drive home the idea of Kay as a Han Solo-type scoundrel deciding her own fate.

As the story progresses, however, Star Wars Outlaws finds itself stuck in a loop of repetitive missions and a narrative that refuses to move forward. At Toshara, as Kay takes on contracts for different Syndicates, she is pursued by a ruthless bounty hunter on Sliro’s orders. Betrayals and new alliances follow as Kay manages to fix her ship and escape from the planet with the help of outlaw Jaylen Vrax and his commando droid ND-5. Vrax asks Kay to join him and break into Sliro’s vault again, steal unfathomable riches and finally find her freedom. With no exits left, Kay takes up his offer, and together with ND-5, sets out on a planet-hopping adventure to assemble an expert crew for the biggest job of her criminal career.

The rest of the game follows Kay as she travels to Tatooine, Kajimi, and Akiva, looking for the right people for the big heist and taking on side quests and contracts as she balances her reputation among the different syndicates. It’s a familiar setup, but Star Wars Outlaws takes its time getting there. By the time the pieces are set up on the board, you’ve already spent a dozen or so hours running around Toshara and interacting with people who do not matter in the grand scheme of things. You encounter NPCs who seem important at the beginning but are later discarded in underwhelming sequences where the treachery and tragedy of the moment doesn’t land with the intended weight. These side characters are dull, and it becomes difficult to distinguish them from one another after a point.

Kay, too, stops short of being a compelling protagonist, despite all the ingredients present. She’s essentially a Han Solo stand-in, and while she’s just as cavalier the Star Wars icon, she lacks his charisma. Kay feels like a participant in her own journey, always going where the river of plot conveniences and coincidences take her, rather than taking charge of her own destiny. The game drip feeds a story about Kay’s past and her separation from her mother through flashbacks, but it’s done so sparingly that that any emotional denouement is thwarted before it even takes shape.

Star Wars Outlaws also suffers from a busy narrative backdrop that ends up diminishing the tale unfolding at its front and centre. Star Wars stories usually take place at a grand scale, juxtaposing the inarguable aura of its heroes and villains against interesting but relatively inert settings. There is detailed world building, but not at the expense of the world builders. But in Outlaws, the big picture often gets lost in a sea of granular detail. The game surrounds Kay and Nix with a seemingly interminable cast of inconsequential characters who do little to bring out surprising and unseen sides of our heroine. With little real impact to the game’s story, they end up becoming excess furniture crowding the room.

While the narrative dressing swells out to suffocate the story, the gameplay in Star Wars Outlaws goes the other way, spreading thin over the course of the game. To be clear, I didn’t go into Star Wars Outlaws expecting it to offer mechanical depth and I’m perfectly fine with it being an Uncharted-style action-adventure game, with the emphasis on its story and its characters rather than on its gameplay. But when the narrative falters and you don’t have robust gameplay to keep players engaged, it becomes a problem. The core combat and exploration loop in Outlaws doesn’t really change much beyond what you’ve experienced in the first few hours.

Here’s how an average mission in the game goes: You go to contract broker for a mission, who sends you to another guy, who directs you to another location, where you usually sneak your way inside a syndicate base, take down some guards quietly, hack a couple of computers, open loot boxes with a rhythm-based audio cue lockpicking mechanic (it’s fun, actually), grab the thingamajig you need to steal and eventually shoot your way out with your blaster. Star Wars Outlaws makes you follow this exact sequence of objectives so many times that you’ll be doing it on autopilot after spending a few hours in the game.

And this loop would work if its individual parts were fun and tactile — but they’re not. Each gameplay aspect is stripped down to its basest, most simplistic iteration. Stealth here is as plain and shallow as we’ve come to expect from modern Ubisoft games. You crouch-walk around conveniently placed boxes and hit square when you reach up behind an enemy. Annoyingly, when you execute a stealth takedown, the animation skips a few frames, as if the enemy forgets what they’re doing for half a second and magnetically attaches to your action like they couldn’t wait to be punched in the head by Kay. The levels also come with environmental distractions and traps that you can trigger by commanding Nix, but these are nowhere near as deep as the ones found in Ubisoft’s very own Watch Dogs series.

outlaws 5 outlaws

Stealth mechanics lack depth in Star Wars Outlaws

Enemy bases where you sneak around during missions are laid out well though, and there’s always at least a couple of different paths to take to reach your objective. But once you’ve done them a dozen times, the golden path becomes so painfully obvious that there’s barely any challenge left in navigating the level. And it doesn’t help that enemy AI across the entire game is utterly brain-dead. You could shoot someone, lob a couple grenades and then scurry to cover and no one would even remember if you were there.

The shooting is perhaps even more basic. When you’re discovered and enemies inside a base are alerted to your presence, you pop out of cover and go pew-pew with your blaster. That’s about it. That’s all you get — one blasted blaster. There are no additional persistent weapons in the game, except the three different blaster modules that each come with a different firing mode. Kay can pick up certain enemy weapons, but these only last till you empty the clip, or till you perform an interactive action like climbing stairs or entering a vent, at which point she drops the special weapon.

The gunplay also lacks satisfying feedback. It’s never tight and responsive, even when you consider it against the lowered bar for third-person games. Shootouts rarely present any threat or challenge, too. You’ll go down quick if you stay out of cover and fire indiscriminately, but if you stay behind a box and take your shots during the right window, you’ll clear most enemy encounters without sweating. The enemy never adapts different strategies to flush you out or distress you in your position. And when push comes to shove, you can literally just stop shooting, rush the enemy firing at you and punch them in the face a couple of times for a quick dispatch.

outlaws 6 outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws’ lacklustre combat, however, is balanced by the ways it allows you to explore its worlds. On foot, Kay isn’t particularly nimble, but she packs a grappling hook to aid her in traversal. There’s some basic platforming — climb a particular surface, jump and grab the ledge, shimmy along its edge — but it’s never as fluid or deep as Tomb Raider or Uncharted. Stiff animations and a very on-rails experience make exploration on foot a mostly tedious experience. When traversing open hub-worlds on different planets, you’ll mostly be using your speeder to cover long distances. The speeder is functional and helps root the game in Star Wars mythology, but the controls are finicky in tight spaces. Speeder combat is bafflingly tied to contextual input. You can’t freely aim and fire while riding your vehicle. Instead, you wait to fill up a meter and then mark and execute the enemies chasing you, Splinter Cell-style.

outlaws 7 outlaws

Even with the grappling hook, on-foot traversal is tedious

Space exploration and combat, however, is a highlight. Flying around and engaging in dogfights on the Trailblazer isn’t mechanically complex at all, but it’s a great example of how simple game mechanics can engender fun gameplay. When you leave a planet, your ship enters the planet’s orbit, a smaller open hub area where you can fly around and explore. Here, you can find diverse environments, ranging from a debris field to an asteroid cluster, depending upon the planet. You can hunt down treasures and lost cargo, defend friendly syndicated ships from space pirates, and engage in ship combat. Flying around and shooting other ships is perhaps the most consistently reliable mechanic in the game. It’s fun and it provides a necessary change of pace for the gameplay, breaking the monotony of doing repetitive missions on planet surface.

Most importantly, the ship combat evokes Star Wars ethos more than any other part of the game. The visually stimulating space environments, the authentic and familiar ship designs, the way TIE fighters sound — it all just feels like Star Wars. It grounds you in the world George Lucas created and makes you an active participant of its ongoing lore. This is what Respawn’s Jedi Survivor consistently excelled at. It’s impossible to understand the soul of a story and the world it takes place in by the numbers. You can’t push proven buttons to make your game an authentic Star Wars experience. To do that, the developer must have a deeper grasp of the material that goes beyond reverence and reproduction. Because to simply copy assets and elements from Star Wars would result in an imitation rather than an evocation.

To developer Massive Entertainment’s credit, Star Wars Outlaws swings for the fences in its attempt to bottle the essence of the franchise. You can see it when you’re flying the Trailblazer, locked onto an enemy spacecraft; you can feel it in the neon glow of dimly lit cantinas swarming with degenerates; and you can soak in it when you’re zipping across desolate landscapes on your speeder. Star Wars Outlaws is often a stunner. In certain moments, it can be a visual showcase, a perfect example of how to tell a story with images. But the game’s graphical fidelity slides down the scale when you narrow down the scope. The flat deserts of Tatooine, the cold and dark alleys of Kijimi and the rolling grasslands of Toshara are rendered in incredible detail. But facial animations of both Kay and NPCs retain the trademark Ubisoft uncanny-valley coat. It’s criminal for a game that can look so good to the naked eye to drop the quality so drastically when you put it under the microscope. And while voice acting is great across the board, the stiff facial animations drain story cutscenes of any life.

Ubisoft’s games tend to inhabit each other’s skins, like a shared DNA that connects different games in perceptible ways. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was clearly just Far Cry with blue skin. And you can see bits of Assassin’s Creed in Watch Dogs. These games also have the familiar and maligned Ubisoft open-world formula in common, an approach that has left its popular IPs stale. But it’s difficult to place Star Wars Outlaws in a borrowed groove. You’re not exactly trying to fit a square peg in a round hole — it still owes a lot to other Ubisoft titles — but you also can’t quite pinpoint another game from the publisher that inarguably sits inside the Star Wars skin in Outlaws.

The game does make an effort to strip away borrowed limbs, but then it’s left with hollowed-out interiors of Ubisoft gameplay we’ve come to expect and bemoan over the last few years. It’s as if Star Wars Outlaws occupies the negative space of other Ubisoft games. And while Outlaws sheds some of the flaws of its kin with that approach, it also brings issues that are entirely its own. It is marred by inconsistency, saved by its authenticity, and ultimately defeated by its mediocrity. Is Star Wars Outlaws a good Star Wars game? At times, absolutely yes. There are moments where it inarguably soars. But is it a good game? Outlaws inevitably stumbles on that question.

Pros

  • Excellent visuals
  • Ship exploration and combat
  • Immersive environments
  • Intriguing story
  • Nix!

Cons

  • Shallow combat and stealth
  • Poor facial animations
  • Repetitive missions
